Beginning in Darwin, this four-day, all-inclusive expedition takes you to some of the most remote and captivating parts of Australia. Operating April to October, your adventure through the country’s vast, varied, and captivating interior will demonstrate the true meaning of the Australian outback. In the Northern Territory, explore Katherine and Alice Springs, where you’ll enjoy a signature dining experience at The Historic Telegraph Station, and in South Australia, stop at Manguri and Coober Pedy before reaching your final destination of Adelaide.

Start your journey with a welcome drink and canapés, and take photos with The Ghan’s iconic red locomotive. Settle into your cabin or mingle in the Outback Explorer Lounge as The Ghan travels south. Enjoy a chef-prepared lunch before your Off Train Experience in Katherine. Explore the stunning Nitmiluk Gorge on a cruise, learn about outback life with the Katherine Outback Experience, or visit the Cutta Cutta Cave system rich in wildlife and cultural history. Alternatively, opt for a helicopter flight over Nitmiluk for a breathtaking view. (L,D)

ALICE SPRINGS
Wake up in the Australian outback as The Ghan approaches Alice Springs. After a hearty onboard breakfast, embark on a day filled with Off Train Experiences. Choose from an off-road e-bike adventure, the Alice Explorer tour visiting The Historic Telegraph Station and Royal Flying Doctor Service, a cultural experience at Standley Chasm, a wildlife encounter at the Desert Park, or the stunning scenery of Simpson’s Gap. For an unforgettable view, opt for a scenic flight to spot Uluru and Kata Tjuta from the air.
DAY 3 ON THE GHAN
COOBER PEDY
From your morning stop at the remote Manguri, where you’ll see the sunrise, you’ll venture into the weird and wonderful opal mining township of Coober Pedy, where more than half of the residents live underground. Here, you’ll enjoy a day of discovery, and a gourmet lunch in the most unique of locations: underground. Off Train Experiences on offer include exploring the majestic Breakaways, touring the town, learning more about mining history on the Opal Experience, or an optional upgrade with the Painted Hills and Lake Eyre scenic flight.
DAY 4 ON THE GHAN
ADELAIDE
This morning, you’ll see a dramatic change in landscape as the rich ochre tones of the outback make way for the green fields of South Australia. Enjoy a leisurely brunch as you pass through the Flinders Ranges before arriving into Adelaide, completing one of the world’s great rail experiences. (B)
