Day 1: Embark
Kick off your 20th-Expedition adventure at the edge of the world: Ushuaia, Argentina. This legendary launchpad has been the starting point for a decade of epic Insider Expeditions trips to Antarctica.
Climb aboard the Magellen Discoverer — your home base for wild stories, new friends, and unforgettable moments.
Settle into your suite, breathe in the southern air, and meet your crew — a handpicked group ready to make history.
As we head down the Beagle Channel, we’ll start things off right with a welcome dinner, toasting to twenty years of wild adventures and the feeling that something incredible is about to begin again.
Days 2–3: Crossing the Drake Passage
Cross the legendary Drake — a wild stretch of sea where time seems to slow down and the horizon goes on forever. Watch albatross glide by, look out for whales and seals, and feel the rush as we enter the Southern Ocean.
In between, join our guides for hands-on workshops and stories — a Drake tradition that turns this crossing into a true rite of passage.
This is where the adventure truly begins.
Days 4–7: South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula
This is where Antarctica’s magic truly takes hold.
Over the last decade, we’ve learned that Antarctica never reveals the same face twice — but experience taught us exactly where to look. For our 20th anniversary, we are curating our absolute favorite haunts across the South Shetlands and the Peninsula. Picture massive glaciers, glowing blue ice, and endless snowfields. Hop into Zodiacs to get up close with charismatic penguins, relaxed seals, and spots rich with explorer history that only a seasoned team knows how to navigate.
This week, it’s all yours to discover.
Days 8–9: Crossing the Drake Passage
As we head back across the Drake, Antarctica begins to fade behind you, but the memories stay with you forever.
These final days at sea are relaxed and open. Enjoy the ship, swap stories, and take in the last stretch of ocean that has seen a decade of adventure.
Day 10: Disembark
We arrive back in Ushuaia. After a decade of Antarctica expeditions, we’ve learned that people step off this ship differently than when they stepped on: more open, more alive, and more connected to something vast.
Say your goodbyes. Antarctica leaves its mark, and now you’re a part of its story.
Please note: Antarctic expeditions are guided by the elements. Weather and conditions may shift the itinerary, making every journey truly unique. Changes are part of the adventure and not cause for cancellation.
The expedition is aboard the Magellan Discoverer. Ship offers spacious suites with private balconies and stunning ocean views. Guests can relax in lounges, a library, or a lecture theatre, enjoy wellness amenities like a spa and take part in optional adventures such as kayaking and snowshoeing.
We want your journey to be as seamless and stress-free as possible! To ensure a smooth departure, remember that it is your personal responsibility to research, obtain, and carry all proper travel documentation required for this trip. This includes a valid passport (which typically must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your scheduled return date), any necessary visas, and any other entry documents required by Argentina and the specific expedition areas.
A Few Important Reminders:
Check Your Specific Requirements: Entry rules and travel advisories can change. Because requirements depend entirely on your personal citizenship and travel history, check directly with the official embassy or consulate of your destination (and your home country’s state department) to find out exactly which visas or documents you need.
Secure Your Documents Early: Please be sure to apply for and secure all necessary visas and entry documents well in advance of your departure. While our team is here to help make your actual tour experience amazing, we are unable to provide personalized immigration advice, visa processing, or document checking.
Why This is So Important: If you arrive at the airport without the correct documentation, the airline may deny you boarding, or border officials may deny you entry. Please understand that Insider Expeditions cannot be held responsible for any delays or financial losses caused by missing or improper documentation. Because our trip costs are committed to vendors well in advance, we cannot issue refunds for missed flights, missed tour segments, or trip cancellations if you are unable to travel due to incorrect travel documents.
